Scrappy Socks

I’m a huge fan of the podcast The Bakery Bears with the Husband and Wife duo, Dan and Kay Jones. They have so much going on in their podcast from Knitting, Baking, Cooking History, Games and more, so if you don’t know who they are I would strongly recommend that you give them a go. They started back in 2015 and were not supposed to last that very long but the fans didn’t want them to stop and if you are interested in why then please read under “About” on their homepage and you’ll understand why. So after they announced “Goodbye´” in episode 24 the viewers response to that was overwhelming to the duo because we all said NO!!!! So one viewer informed them that that they could earn a living by doing this by signing up to “Patreon”, so that’s what they did and the rest is history.

To cut o long story short, they have lots of KALs and some CALs and one of the recent ones is a pair of Scrappy Socks where you knit a pair of socks from leftover sock yarn. Great idea I thought because there’s always leftover after you knit a pair and now I could use all of these leftovers to knit a pair to use them all up.

So I joined in and here are mine. I thought to knit both socks at the same time and I didn’t have two sets of the 2.50mm metal needles so one set is bamboo and now I can see that they don’t look the same just because of the fact that they are not both metal, interesting.

The one with metal is neater than the one with bamboo. It’s too late now to change it but I hope after blocking it will sort itself out a bit.

The heel flap is done and you can still see the big difference between the bamboo knitted sock and the metal knitted sock.

And here is the first sock finished, the one knitted with the metal DPNs.

Now I have to finish the second one and find out how that one will look.
