It’s time for me to finally knit a proper jumper!

SoljaTröjan

This is the jumper that I will be tackeling, The Sólja Jumper by Anna Maltz. The pattern can be bought on Ravelry.

I will be making the left one with three rows of flowers on the yoke and the neck is higher up on that one. There will not be those colours because I wanted mine in blue, so here’s my choice. The yarn is Drops Karisma.

The yarn has been ordered so all I can do now is wait.

Cowl for Mother-in-law

My mother-in-law forgot her previous cowl that I did knit for her and she asked her son (my husband) if I could knit her a new one. So here it is.

The pattern is a Järbo Garn AB pattern (the village I live in) and it’s in Swedish, Norwegian, Danish and Dutch. The pattern number is 17-14.

If I’m lucky my husband will have it with him in may when he’s over to the UK to visit family and friends.

Yarn, lovely yarn

I was in need for needles in size 3.75 and didn’t have any (apart from the ChiaoGoo set that was in use) so I ordered a pair by KnitPro Zing with a 80cm cable. I really like the Zings. So to get the most out of the postage I ordered some yarn with it and one favourite of mine is the Cascade 220 fingering yarn (100% wool, 50gr, 250 metre). I have a shawl in mind made up of three colours, black being the main one (not a colour but you know that) and then I wanted purple and yellow this time instead of lime green because I have made one in dark grey, purple and lime green not long ago. But when I saw the magenta one I did get some problems of picking that one or the purple one, so I bought both to see how it will look in real life.

Then another top favourite yarn is Malabrigo Lace (100% Baby Merino wool, 50gr, approximately 425metre) and I have been for a long time now wanted to knit with beads, so I bought some beads to go with them as well.

Malabrigo Lace (100% Baby Merino wool, 50gr, approximately 425metre) Red

Malabrigo Lace (100% Baby Merino wool, 50gr, approximately 425metre) Blue

I have a strong feeling that both of these will be the Pyttipanna Shawl and the Blue one is for me but the red one I might have made for someone depending on how it goes with the beads.

addi Sockwonder

So what can I say about this one then ? Guess? I HATE IT!

It did not take long before I put it back in it’s plastic bag and sold it off.

addiCraSyTrio Needles

So, I have bees seeing these for some time now on different podcasts and thought that “Why mess with things that already works?”. I am a DPN user and it works just fine for me and I have tried Magic Loop and hating it, so when I saw these I thought that this must be something in between them both. It’s still a bit Magic Loop when it’s on only two needles but you knit with the third but it’s more like DPNs because lots are using only three needles and knit with the fourth (I use four and knit with the fifth).  So after seeing some podcasters talking about them and showing how they work and and some YouTube films I decided to give them a try. So I ordered a set in 2.5mm (US 1½) and when they arrived I tested them on the spot by casting on a pair of socks. They were a bit fiddly in the beginning but that’s everything when you try it for the first time, but after a few rows of the ribbing they started to slowly work for me.

It did still feel a bit uncomfortable using them but I kept going and when it was time for the stockinette stitch it really started to feel better. I have come a bit further on it and looking forward to see how it will work with the heel with these needles  so I can’t write about that right now so it just have to wait till I get to it. But so far these needles are OK.To be continued …
