Mochila Bag

This is a first for me but I really wanted to give it a try.

It’s really time consuming and it hurt my fingers and hands because it must be tight and flat. It will take a long time to finish this one and I have been told it will take time so I’m not worried that I’m slow.

So I have now started with the bottom of the bag.

Wish me luck!

YlloTylls Knit-along Zebra Socks

The yarn shop in Uppsala (Yll o Tyll) was holding a KAL, making a pair of socks by making stripes by knitting from the inside of the ball and the outside of the ball. The only problem I had by making these was all the ends to weave in after and there are 14 ends!!! I also learned to make a short row heel and I did not like the progress of it but the fit is brilliant, so I guess I have to practise this a bit more..

Yarn: Schoppel-Wolle - Crazy Zauberball, Sandnes Garn - Sisu Solid
Needles: 2.25 mm (US 1), 2.50 mm (US 1½)

Fast & Easy Fingerless Mitts v2–Circular

I did get some yarn from my mother-in-law for my birthday so I had to make something out of it. I started with a yarn I never tried before but I loved the colour of it and that it had copper metal thread in it for some sparkle. So what can you knit out of a 50 gr ball that have 100m in it? I had no idea! So Ravelry to the rescue and there I found a fingerless mitten that was made in the same yarn and I have never made fingerless mittens before so this would be interesting to see if I could do it. I did! and I loved them and so did my husband and wanted a pair and another friend of mine ordered a pair as well.

The pattern is a free one and by Lisa Beamer Cannon (on Ravelry) and the pattern is called “Fast & Easy Fingerless Mitts v2 – Circular”.

Childhood Christmas Window Spiral

2017-12-25 17.23.47

As a child during the 60s and a teenager during the 70s this Christmas spiral was a MUST for us every Christmas. I could sit for ever in the kitchen just staring at it and day dream away. This spiral connects me back to that time and it was the best time ever during my childhood so it’s a MUST for me even now to hang in the window during Christmas, but the original is made of metal foil in three colours, red and silver, blue and silver and green and silver but I have seen one where the coloured side are spit in half and have gold and red and silver on the back or green and gold or blue and gold.

So when I saw that you could crochet these I just HAD TO DO IT!!. (LOL)

Yarn: Järbo Garn- Big Verona
Hook: 2.50

2018 is here and I have lots of plans.

This year will hopefully be a very good year in so many different ways and when it comes to crafting I feel that my knitting will get better and I will expand my knowledge and the same goes for crocheting.  When it comes to embroidery and cross stitching I have more or less completely stopped. I do have things that I still want to cross stitch or finish off and I also want to full fill my promise to my late mother that I WILL master Hardanger stitching. She was so good at it and I have always wanted to learn to do it and she did start teaching me this back in the mid 80s.

Another thing I want to learn this year is to dye yarn with acid dyes and with mushrooms (fungus). I might get back to some more spinning. Then it’s time to bring out the sewing machine to get starting to learn how to use it. The first thing is to make project bags for all my knitting and crocheting and also some tote bags for the same thing

So 2018! here I come!

Never been to Greece

Next shawl was a quick one and the first one I ever done in cotton.
It turned out so small but expanded well when it was blocked. I did find it hard to tie the ends properly.

Loved the picot bind off.
